Rob Astyk is a 12th generation New Englander who is now living in Bellingham, Washington. After receiving classical training as an actor, Rob became a social service worker, in which profession he worked for more than twenty-five years, primarily with disabled persons of all
ages and with homeless individuals and families of the Boston Area.

Rob has three remarkable daughters who benefited from his acting training as he told them stories when they were young. He continues that tradition as a storyteller in public performance and to his four, soon to be six, grandchildren. He has always been interested in
literature and history, interests which fed into his interest in fountain pens.

Rob began collecting the fountain pens he'd written with since childhood in 1979 and has been researching their history almost as long. He is recognized as an expert on the fountain pens of the L.E. Waterman Co. and those of the Boston Area including Moore, Crocker,
Chilton, Carter's and DeWitt-LaFrance. Rob is also active in many anti-war, pro-human rights, social justice and other anti-fascist causes such as the Democratic Party.
